VISIA Skin Analysis

The skin produces melanin (dark pigment) or hyperpigmentation in reaction to excess exposure to the sun. UV rays from the sun penetrate the outer skin layers and pass into the deeper layers where they can damage or kill skin cells. Sun freckles (scattered, small, brown freckles), melasma (brown irregular patches seen on upper cheeks, upper lip and nose) and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (larger areas of brownish damage) are all signs of hyperpigmentation.

As part of an hour-long skin consultation, we use the VISIA Skin Analysis imaging system. This system takes a digital photograph which shows the skin’s surface in three dimensions from any angle, rendered in natural skin tone, color relief, or gray scale. VISIA then determines overall skin condition and age and uses the world’s largest skin feature database to grade the patient’s skin relative to others of the same age and skin type.

As shown in the photos below, VISIA measures spots, wrinkles, texture, pores, UV spots, brown spots, red areas, and porphyrins. We use this advanced analysis to guide the selection of skin care products and treatment options that meet your specific needs.
