Men and women in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond are seeking a solution to the tired, aging look of a low or sagging brow.
A brow lift:
- minimizes creases that develop across the forehead or high on the bridge of the nose improves what are commonly referred to as frown lines between the eyebrows
- re-positions a low or sagging brow
- and raises the eyebrows to a more alert and youthful position
The brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is often part of a face lift. Facial rejuvenation procedures commonly performed along with with a brow lift include:
- Eyelid surgery to rejuvenate aging eyes
- Face lift to correct aging changes in the mid- to lower face and neck regions
- Facial fillers to plump out depressed areas
Your Consultation
Dr. Gray will meet with you in consultation to evaluate how much loose skin you have, how much of a lift you will need and to what height the skin will need to be lifted. A brow lift will correct the ptosis of the skin above the eye to the eyebrow. Lifting that drooping area of skin will give you a refreshed, younger look. A brow lift will improve forehead creases and reposition a sagging brow that is hooding the upper eyelid. Dr. Gray will discuss the best method based on your needs to achieve a more alert and youthful appearance.
Non-surgical choices for a smoother brow
Symptoms which have been addressed by a brow lift in the past may also be easily addressed today by Botox Cosmetic or Dysport. Dr. Gray does not want patients to undergo any unnecessary surgeries or spend anymore than necessary to achieve enduring results. With the patient’s concerns in mind, they frequently recommend that a patient first try seeking lift to their brow lift with highly successful alternatives, such as Botox Cosmetic or Dysport, dermal fillers or the Fraxel laser before choosing a surgical route. Patients are usually very happy with the results of these non-invasive procedures, which are less expensive and have no downtime. If the patient and the doctor together feel the brow lift is the better answer, then surgery can be scheduled.

How is a brow lift performed?
Dr. Gray will examine you and recommend the best method for you. One method is for people who may require only a partial eyebrow lift. Eyebrow surgery or an eyebrowpexy, is the repositioning of the eyebrow from underneath the skin to a higher level through an eyelid incision.
For people who need a full eyebrow lift, Dr. Gray will perform either a direct lift of the eyebrow, in which a little skin above the eyebrow is removed. The eye brow is then repositioned. An alternate method of lifting the brow can be achieved by making a small incision in the scalp, so that there are no visible incision lines. An incision is then made in the eyelid to remove muscle that pulls down the eyebrow.
Am I a good candidate?
A brow lift is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s needs or to try to fit any sort of ideal image. Brow lift surgery is a good option for you if you are physically healthy, you don’t smoke, you have a positive outlook, and keep realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance.

The incision lines from a brow lift are well concealed within the hair or natural contours of the face unless they are placed at the hairline to shorten the forehead. Results appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal smoother forehead skin and a more youthful, restful appearance.
Life-long sun protection will help to maintain your rejuvenated appearance by minimizing photo-aging or sun damage. In addition, a healthy lifestyle will also help extend the results of your rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.
