Axis 3D Breast Imager 1st in New England

Portsmouth, NH – “What will I look like?” is the number one question patients ask Dr. Lawrence Gray when considering breast augmentation. Now, Dr. Gray of Atlantic Plastic Surgery Center, located on Griffin Road in Portsmouth, NH, can accurately answer this question in 3D pictorial form. Using the very latest in medical technology, The Portrait 3D Surgical Simulation Platform by Axis Three, Dr. Gray and his staff can give patients an actual visual of themselves simulating the before and after – in photo realistic 3D. The Portrait 3D helps Dr. Gray and the patient work together to select just the right implant-size, form and shape, that best compliments their individual body. Additionally, this cutting edge technology allows greater guidance and direction for more accurate customization, placement and shaping of the implants especially helpful for any asymmetry issues. Importantly, this visualization enables patients to see the desired outcome in realistic 3D from all angles-overhead, side, front views, before the procedure is performed and make any necessary adjustments. The simulation is also helpful for patients to understand if breast implants alone would correct sagging skin or if they might need a breast lift.

With over 24 years of plastic surgery medical practice, Dr. Gray is recognized in the medical community as a leader in plastic surgery and breast augmentation. Dr. Gray is also nationally and internationally recognized as the inventor of the scarless breast reduction, a revolutionary procedure that eliminates scars associated with the older, traditional method of breast reduction. Additionally, Dr. Gray is a core investigator for the Mentor and Silimed silicone breast implant studies.

Dr. Gray is the first and only surgeon in New England to have this advanced technology. On average, Dr. Gray performs about 250 breast augmentations a year, more than 4 times the national average. Currently, there are only 10 of these visualization machines in the U.S. “At Atlantic Plastic Surgery, our patients love this new technology. It allows them to ‘try on’ various sizes and shapes to determine what is right for their body and visually make any adjustment or changes,” says Dr. Gray. “It increases the comfort level of the patient and with the help of the software; we can show the patient a range of sizes, shapes and placement and take precise accurate volume measurements optimizing what is best for their body. We compare the “before” with up to 5 simulated results.” The Portrait 3D Surgical Simulation Platform by Axis Three is available at Atlantic Plastic Surgery at no extra charge and is included as part of the consultation. “At Atlantic Plastic Surgery, our goal is to make sure our patients are very happy with their result for a long time to come.”

Drs. Gray and Claytor selected to exhibit at National Meeting / Facelift Results Demonstrate Better Results

Portsmouth, NH—Doctors Lawrence N. Gray and R. Brannon Claytor have been selected to present their paper entitled, “MACS Facelift with FATS” at the 91st annual meeting of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons in be held in San Francisco, California from April 14th to 17th, 2012. The poster presentation is based on Dr. Gray’s experience over a five-year period.

Dr. Gray has modified the MACS facelift by introducing the “Finger Assisted Tissue Separation” (FATS) technique resulting in quicker recovery, fewer complications, and better results. The FATS technique is a simpler and safer procedure. Preserving the natural fat and repositioning it provides a bloodless operative field and the finger assisted tissue separation (FATS) allows minimal use of cautery, which can cause thermal heat injury.

Facial aging is a result of years of the natural gravitational pull between the skin and facial skeleton leading to the sagging of the skin and loss of elasticity. Sagging is made worse by the weight of added fat. Previous methods used cautery to assist in the operation. Using the MACS Facelift with FATS, Dr. Gray is able to avoiding cautery, which minimizes loss of volume of facial tissue. This method enables Dr. Gray to preserve and reposition existing fat instead of trying to replace it by using fat injections, which are less predictable. The big advantage is that patients appear more natural and are able to return to social activities, often in one week. With the MACS Facelift with FATS the results are more predictable, have less bleeding and require no use of drains, which are used with most other techniques.

Dr. Gray has achieved better results using the MACS facelift with Finger Assisted Tissue Separation (FATS) now for more than 8 years. The results appear to have a long lasting result.
