We have an array of procedures that can help you better define the borders of the lip or enlarge the size of the entire lip. Artefill®

We are proud to be one of the original practices to offer Artefill®, the first and only FDA-approved non-reabsorbable, injectable wrinkle filler. Artefill® gives you immediate results with almost no downtime. This exciting new filler is a safe, long lasting correction for nasolabial folds, what many people call “smile lines.”

Results of temporary fillers may last only three to six months, or at best up to nine months or a year. The benefits of Artefill® endure for up to five years. Results have been shown to actually improve over the course of several months and stand the test of time. An Artefill® injection noticeably corrects the wrinkle and then, over time, microspheres provide the permanent support your skin needs for lasting wrinkle correction. No need for repeat injections every few months to maintain the correction.

JUVÉDERM™ Ultra and JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus

JUVÉDERM™ is one of the newest, non-surgical, injectable fillers used to restore the skin’s volume. JUVÉDERM™ is an injectable gel that was approved by the FDA in June 2006. JUVÉDERM™ does an excellent job of softening deep folds, reducing wrinkles and correcting wrinkles and nasolabial folds. You’ll see the difference immediately with little or no downtime.

JUVÉDERM™ is made by the creators of BOTOX® Cosmetic and is considered to be the next generation injectable filler. JUVÉDERM™ is offered in two formulations: JUVÉDERM™ Ultra (for areas where subtle volume enhancement is required) and JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus (for correction of deep folds and wrinkles). JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus costs slightly more and lasts about three months longer.

Once you and your physician have decided on the areas you’d like to correct, your doctor injects JUVÉDERM™ at the mid to deep dermis (beneath the surface of the skin). Some people like the comfort of a dental block in the area, while others find the brief procedure very tolerable. Other approved hyaluronic acid treatments are granular in consistency. The smooth consistency of JUVÉDERM™ allows the injection to be given with relative ease. Side effects may be redness, mild pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, or mild bruising. Most reactions subside in just a few days.

Restylane® and Perlane®

Restylane® and Perlane®, made by the same company, are cosmetic dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin, greatly reducing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and nasolabial folds (the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Although the hyaluronic acid in both Restylane® and Perlane® is made by the same biotechnical process, the difference between the two is the particle size. Perlane® gel particles are larger and designed for deeper injection than Restylane®. Perlane® is usually used for larger folds, while Restylane® is better suited for smaller wrinkles or to maintain the results of a previous Perlane® injection. Restylane® lasts an average of four to six months. Perlane® lasts a minimum of six months in a majority of patients.

Both Restylane® and Perlane® are injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra fine needle. The procedure is simple and results are immediate. For your greatest comfort, you may request that we anesthetize the area.

Restylane® is approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane® is also highly popular for lip augmentation.

Perlane® is a great choice for redefining a lip border, facial depressions, facial scarring, chin augmentation, and softening acne scarring. It is also excellent for diminishing worry lines between eyebrows, smile lines, crows feet around eyes, marionette lines at corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), and smokers lines. Perlane® can be used for creating a temporary eyebrow lift, correcting facial depressions caused by fat loss, and softening the appearance of jowls.

Both Restylane® and Perlane® can also be used with BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX® Cosmetic neutralizes the muscles that create wrinkles and then your Perlane® or Restylane® injection adds fullness to areas where you have lost it over time. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissue, there is no need for a skin test when using Restylane® or Perlane® filler. Your doctor will decide which product is right for you based on an evaluation of facial wrinkles and folds during your initial consultation.
